Replaced The Intermediate Shaft

Recommended Posts

Real quick...2004 2500HD Crew Cab, 85,000 miles, typical clunk in front end...replaced intermediate shaft (number 4) with the NAPA part...still slight knock...replaced the green bushing in the column...still a slight knock (I can live with it) but the steering wheel is sloppy...approx. 1/2" or so play side to side.

Whats next? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I had the same front end clunck at about the same miles. At about 95,000 i had enough I went out and bought a borgeson sterring shaft for like $220. The play you might be feeling is prolly a worn sterring part like an idler arm or a tie-rod. Napa has lifetime warranty steering parts for gm. also make sure you torqued the 2 bolts holding the shaft to 60ft/lbs
