What do you all think?

I think he should have just stayed retired.  There is no way he is going to be as good as he was, so after the storybook ending he left on all my memorys of his awesome skill will now be changed, leaving behind images of an aging man trying to keep up with the young punks.

Anyone else care to comment?

it will never be like the 6 championships

man those were the years.  It was pretty cool being so close to chicago and getting all the coverage at the time

I wish he w ouldnt do this

In agreement with Ryan.  Wish my fellow Tarheel wouldn't do this, but I wouldn't bet against MJ either.  The man is magical.

I taped 6 hours of ESPN's coverage when he retired (the second time), so my kids could someday see a legend in action.  And I didn't even have kids yet!!  I'll be watching on Oct. 30th -

I agree. I wish he wouldn't either. He will fill stadiums though and I think he is the image that the NBA needs very badly. ;)

I think he should've stayed retired for the simple reason that he isn't going to be surrounded by the talent he was surrounded by in Chicago.  But he is the greatest to ever play the game.  I was never a huge fan of his, but I stilled liked watching him play (and I don't like the NBA).  But I'll definately be watching his comeback for a little while.  He may not win a championship again, but he'll still turn some heads and demand some respect from the opponents.

I agree with everyone..

He will always be one of if not the greatest players and now he wants to come out of retirement.. I dont see why but i guess its just going to be up to him..  I know there will be a lot to do with the media but he is no spring chicken..

It was just like when mario lemieux *sp* came back from retirement.. he is a great player but i just dont know why...

All he needs is to fall down a wrong way into the boards and he will go from playing golf and any other sports that he plays to maybe not even playing them anymore..

i know exactly why he came back.  Hes a competitor and couldnt take sitting in an office all day.

When i finished my hs bball career i knew i was done with organized basketball.  Shoot i didnt touch a basketball for 11 months then i was asked to play in a summer league.  I went out there out of shape and all and had a great time.  Played pretty good too especially for playing against div 1 and former cba players.  I havent played organized since but once in awhile i go out and shoot around.  I dont lolly gag ill go full speed and everything.  When you do something like that (play basketball) for so long it stays with you

He was a competitor for sure but does he really need to come back to prove his nature?

He was already having trouble with the likes of Allan Iverson before he retired and now he has a fairly mature Kobe Bryant plus the likes of Mike Bibby,Steve Francis and Latrell Spreewell to deal with defensively.

He was the man and there may never be one better than him while he was in his prime but that's old news now.

IMO,he's in for a rude awakening.

I'm no roundball fan, but I did admire him as a role model. He was always the "Good Guy". No stories about drugs, assaults, DUI's, or refusing to stand for the National Anthem.

I hope he does well.

He doesnt have anything to prove to anyone.  He is doing this for himself.  I bet he would have come back faster if there were no fans or people watching him.  It would have been easier it would have been more fun.  He wants to prove to himself he still has it.

I think its a mistake but hey let him do what makes him happy.  We all know its not the money he is making the minimum

I think everybody who is saying he will fail miserably should just wait a bit before passing judgement.  I'm not sure if he can do well or not, but I'm sure not going to say he can't....

btw, I could care less because I hate pro basketball.
