MS3DALE Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 ok first i have a GMT-900 z71 and i heard they come with bilstein shocks? anyone help with that? Nope,GMT900's (and GMT800's also) do not come with Bilstein's,They are produced by Tenneco Automotive (same company that produces Monroe and Rancho shocks)
dmargaros Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 I have a 2007 Tahoe Z71 and replaced the FRONT shocks with the Bilstein 5100 leveling shocks. I also put on 275/65/18 Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs...without any issue on STOCK rims. I personally do not think that I'd go any larger than that, as rubbing is a distinct possibility. As my truck is right now there is no rubbing...but it's a very close fit. You have to remember that the Bilsteins LIFT the front end 1.77"..NOT the 2.5" that some other leveling kits are claiming. With a FULL 2.5" I think you could probably fit a 285/65/18 tire on STOCK rims without issue...but I really would not try going that big using the Bilsteins. Hope this helps.
Stex Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 275s fit with no lift, I am almost sure 285s will fit....to go bigger you need to use the lift in the Bils 5100 I would think...Rich is correct, normal for Rich, the older Z71s had the yellow bilsteins...when I got my 09 even the dealer was confused as to if they were bils..Rich answered that question then...
Jennabear Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 It isn't just the shocks or the lift, it is also the wheel size/offset/backspacing.
valleyfreak45 Posted April 5, 2010 Author Posted April 5, 2010 It isn't just the shocks or the lift, it is also the wheel size/offset/backspacing. ok well here is what i was looking at doing: lift/level- 2 Front leveling bilstein 5100 and 2 5100 for the rear tires- 285/65/18 BFG All-Terrain wheels- 18x9 Black XD Hoss wheels with 18 offset and 106.25 hub bore any conflicts? also let me know if you guys like that set up with a GMT-900 white 2007 silverado z71
MS3DALE Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 I'm running 275/65R18 Goodyear Wrangler AT/S's on 18x9 American Racing Cannon's with 0 offset and 5" backspacing, with a 1.5" Rough Country front leveling kit and 1" Fab-Tech rear lift blocks. You shouldn't have any issues running 285's,I'm just not sure on the 18 offset working for you.
