jro909 Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 my 5.3 has this fluke where it will start to climb to shift(initial shift from start up) and it will hit around 1000 rpms and lose power for about a second and hop up and shift, is this normal? its only if its cooler outside and if the truck isen't all the way up past 170 on the temp guage...
RayGMC Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Sounds like the intake manifold gaskets need to be replaced. I know this was an issue with a lot of the 5.3L engines in colder weather. Wait and see if it goes away as the outside temps start to creep back up. If it does then it's the gaskets.
RayGMC Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Are you getting any codes? Check out this thread: Z71Tahoe-Suburban.com
jro909 Posted April 14, 2010 Author Posted April 14, 2010 no codes, no lights on the dic...it goes away as soon as it makes the first shift, then runs like a champ
