Chipping My Sierra

Hi guys

 

I have a 2007 new style Gmc Sierra 1500 5.3 liter and i am thinking about chipping it..has anybody chiped theirs?

If so , how much did it cost and what kind did you use.... does it make a big diffrence on the milage and preformance?

I have an 08 sierra all terrain with a 5.3. Just went for a vacation in Iraq, and the moment I hit the states I joined this site and ordered a diablosport predator tuner with the computer adapter. The plain jane tunes (87 and 93 octane) are good, and I understand the specific programs you can download are awesome, although my laptop is having a hard time with it. I have been running the 93 tune, and I am pretty happy with it. I got my setup for about $350 on Amazon. I def got better performance, AND better mileage (when I can swallow my pride and keep my foot out of it!). Additionally, I dropped a K&N filter in the stock CAI box and added an Airaid tube (again, Amazon was the cheapest, but availability is limited-be patient. got mine for $98 shipped free). I also have a 40 series Flowmaster cat back dual exhaust. After the tube and the filter, it sounded even meaner. All said and done, when trying for highway mileage, I can eek out 24 mpg. Most peeps here recommend Black Bear tunes, and in my opinion is the best bang for your buck. I want to do that myself, but I am pretty satisfied with what I have done. I wish I learned about BB tunes before I bought the predator! You just have to weigh your options, it is pretty cool to be able to switch tunes on your truck yourself!

Can't really "chip" these trucks. The computers are actually reflashed. Almost like adding a new operating system to your home computer.

Thank you for the help guys.... last question .... does chipping my truck void the warranty? I have 53,000 km on my 2007 Sierra.
