Back-up Alarm

I need to install a back-up alarm on my truck (DOT requirement). Most connect using the power wire to the back-up light. Problem is that the lights are also used for exit lighting. I don't have the functioning DIC on my model to turn off this feature. Any thoughts?

You can buy the driver info switch kit for about 90.00 so you can change your exit lighting . Also the dealer my be able to change the option for you .

Looks like a DIC upgrade is in the near future.

I'm not real good with electrical in vehicles , but i would think you could install a relay on the wire that is tapping into the reverse lights... That way it would only let current thru when your vehicle is on.... which in turn would let the power that goes to the back up lights when in reverse operate the alarm.

That sounds like it would work..........hmmmm.
