to try and get a finalized picture, i also plan on getting steps in the future, removing the dent guards and line-xing the sides, and getting smoked tallights. here's the front as well:

40 views and no replies? dang.

maybe this'll help. i did this quick in paint, one with chrome rails, one with black. i also removed the chrome door strip.

both look good i think. the chrome looks more showy while the black looks more rugged...

I guess most of us can't decide which way you want to go either!

Looks like you have gone both ways on your truck with black rims and chrome accents. If you are going to smoke your lights I think you are leaning toward black. Black is cheaper in price than chrome, also.

I went red and chrome.

I vote for no rails. You could also get rid of the chrome door handles and the chrome covers on your side view mirrors. Smooth out the appearance of your dark truck. To much takes away from it's simple good looks. It is a great looking Z-71 so keep it that way. I know, what about the fuel cover? Dump that too. Thats my opinion.

went with the rails. black to keep it understated and clean. i did a couple chops with the air horns (which must be chrome) and steps and chrome rails was way too much. (steps will be black too).

yeah, i think im gonna dump the chrome handles. gonna get rid of the door trim too. not sure about mirror caps and gas door though, i like a little touch of it- compliments the chrome bumpers and trim in the wheels. but then again the chrome air horns may be enough to get rid of the others. its a work in progress. thanks guys for the input.

no rails...and ditch the chrome gas flap cover, we all love autozone but somethings belong on the shelf not on a truck

oh, that reminds me. sorry guys i forgot to post pics after the fact. unfortunately i cant edit the thread title. i went with black:

theyre "putco locker" brand. picked these because of the 1000 lb tie down strength on each corner and theyre stainless steel. i wanted the look but im also going to actually be using them. they were hard to find too- putco discontinued the black. i actually bought the last pair on amazon and 4wheelparts.com was out.

now i gotta take off the chrome door handle covers and get new tailights (smoked LEDs are what im after- the stock ones stick out like a sore thumb) to complete it. and remove the door trim.

how hard is itto install the factory bed rails?

literally 5 minutes. all it is is a bolt that screws into a rubber expander that fits into the stake pocket. you tighten it to the right torque and youre off. it took a little longer for me because i had to cut the bed liner rail caps to fit the rails (you can kinda see it in the top pic). heres a video of my exact product being installed (except these are chrome style):

i do feel like they would be easy to steal though, thats the only downside. but thats what insurance is for i suppose.
