Changing Rotors Have A Question?

Recommended Posts

I got some new rotors and pads for my truck that I am going to put on this weekend. Just wondering if you guys install the screw that holds the rotors to the hub or do you just leave them off. In the past I think I left them off.

There was another about this. Someone said they were used at the plant to hold them in place while the truck moved down the line.

If it has the screw-put it back in. Some older models had two star type washers on the studs that held the rotors on. These usually get broken during removal and are not really needed. However I would reuse the screw. Also make sure the hub is clean before mounting the new rotors so you don't have excessive runout.

Most aftermarket rotors either dont have the hole or it dosnt line up with the hole on the hub.I just did my brakes 2 weeks ago,I didnt put it on and its been fine.
