Though this was a cool story.  The man finally got his Eagle Scout Award at 72.  He finished all of the requirements back in the day before he turned 18, which is the cut off to become an Eagle, because he came down with polio and it just never happened.  Really cool story and I am sure it means alot to him.  I know that having earned my Eagle Scout award a few years back will always be one of my proudest accomplishments.

Any other Eagle Scouts out there?

You should be proud...its a lot to accomplish by the age of 18....I have known some but not me..I was only a scout for a year or two as a kid......as for the 72 year old Eagle Scout....they should probably have a separate award......"Bald Eagle Scout"....... :P

I received my Eagle Scout award about 10 years ago.  I actually got it done before I turned 18.  It was tough, but like they say, it looks good on a resume.

That's a neat story about that guy.

Yeah I got mine in March of 99 (9 months before I turned 18).  It was alot of work, but well worth it.  No matter who you meet or what, people are always impressed by it.  When they see that on a resume they are like "wow", this person worked hard to earn this award that few actually acheive.  That goes for both people who where in scouts or just people who never were but have heard about it.  And of course, meeting someone who is also an Eagle is like having an instant friend, it is sort of a bond in a way.  I have meet a few people since I got mine and it is alot of fun to talk about it with a fellow Eagle.  Congrats to all of you who also EARNED your Eagle Scout Award.  :P

Congrats to all you Eagle Scouts.

Two of my best friends are Eagle Scouts.  One got his in 93, our senior year of high school, and the other got his a couple years ago.

It's alot of work, and alot to be proud of.

I never had a chance, I got kicked out of the CUB SCOUTS in grade school for getting in a fight during a meeting.  But hey, I sent the kid home crying, and it makes for a great story.  How many other people do you know who got kicked out of the cub scouts?  :P

I earned my Eagle Scout in 1988 when I was 16.  good thing, too, I was just discovering girls and cars were already a HUGE part of my life.  But it has helped open a few doors, especially when trying to get my first job out of college.  Now, I can site my work experience and references to get ahead, but with a fresh diploma it really helped to have that credential.  And I still take pride in the job that I did on my project whenever I'm back in my home town.

Congrats to the gent who just recieved his long-awaited award, and congrats to my fellow Eagle Scouts!

Jeff

P.S.  I haven't forgotten the Eagle Scout charge...I plan to get back into Scouting some day, hopefully soon!

I'm also an Eagle Class of 73.  And to add to it I have the Arrow of Light and a real God and Country (before it was changed and made so easy).  Hey General how is the project coming?  FYI the General is working on his project the last time we talked about it.

.... i never was into any of that scout stuff, not my type of thing.

Paco, there are some things that people just intuitively know.  I think this may be one of them!!!!! :P

Yeah, I have my Arrow of Light from cub scouts also.  And I guess I would have the "easy" version of the God and Country or something like that (your right, wasn't really that hard).

Hey General, hope your project is coming along good, if it isn't done already.  Keep up the work, it is well worth it and you will be extremely proud to be able to say that you accomplished it.  Let us know how it is going.

Congrats to all the Eagles out there!  HUGE accomplishment.  I never reached that penacle.  The furthest I got to was Life Scout (just before Eagle).  I needed to finish my service project but high school studies and getting ready for college ($$$$ ) turned into a higher priority.   :P  I really wish I had found the time to complete that.  I did reach "Brotherhood" in Order of the Arrow and I've been to Philmont High Adventure camp twice.  (I'd go again if anyone needs an "adult" to go along.)  :)

I never did make it to Philmont during my time in scouts.  Did make it to "ordeal" in Order of the Arrow though, then I started college and all and just never had time to commit to Order of the Arrow and regular troop stuff.  Hopefully I will be able to get back into it sometime in the near future.

Never made Eagle Scout, but I did make a rank you may have heard of and that is Beagle Snout. Not quite as big as Eagle Scout, but still pretty high up there.

No seriously though, congrats to all of you guys who have attained that, because obviously you are dedicated and giving and that is something to be proud of. I hope that my son is smarter than his old man ( wouldn't take much, he's probably got me beat and he's only 2), and joins the scouts. Being a hunter and hoping to share that with my son someday, I think the scouts would be great for him, and for me.

Again, great job guys!

    • I've got a 2013 2500 6.0L Flexfuel. Drove the truck earlier today with no issues. Went to run an errand tonight and noticed key fob wouldn't work. Figured battery was dead, so replaced fob batter. Still wasn't working. Grabbed my other set of keys with the other fob and that one wasn't working either. So I manually unlock truck and insert key. Interior lights come on, dashboard lights up, turn key and truck starts. Turn truck off, like a moron, and try starting again. This time no crank, no click, no nothing. Lights still come on and dash lights up, but now I'm getting a service 4wheel drive, service tire monitor, etc. Check voltage on battery and Im showing 12.2v. Throw my battery charger on it and give it 15 mins and try starting again. But still no crank no start. Decide maybe its a bad battery, run to autozone grab a new one and put it in. Same issue. Disconnect battery and let it sit for 15 mins. Try again and still nothing. I had manager to roll the windows down earlier as its a humid night, but now I can't get them to roll up. Power locks are also not working now. Then randomly I try the key again, and it fires right up. Immediately I roll up the windows as we have nothing but rain forecast this week. I shut it back off wait 30 seconds and start up again. Worked a 2nd time. So turn it off, start putting things back together. Try one more time, and back to no crank no start. And now the car alarm starts going off. Had to disconnect battery and leave it that way for the night as I don't think my neighbors would appreciate my alarm going off again tonight. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.
    • No one will care for you like you care for you. Do what you can for as long as you can. IMHO of course.
    • How about them NICKS!!!
    • Hi there.  Long time lurker, first post.    i have read the previous posts regarding the water ingress problem with this emblem.  I bought my 1500 SLT the  summer of 2025 new and after reading the MANY problems with these emblems failing I decided to install one anyways.  As per a YouTube video, I sealed ( or tried to) this sign with silicone sealant around the outer perimeter joint and the holes that were already somewhat sealed on the rear plate of the emblem.  And installed the connector assembly using dielectric grease on the connectors. The installation looked great and worked well for about 4 months……then FAILURE.  Grrrrrr…… I live in the great white north and wash my truck weekly in an automatic car wash  to keep the salt off.  Let me tell you that removing the old, failed emblem is a whole different animal than removing the OEM individual letters without removing the grill assembly. Mainly because the illuminated logo is built differently than the original letters which  you can remove the red surface lettering with a knife or some kind of blade which gives access to the tabs which hold the logo onto the grill. So I had to essentially destroyed the old emblem to remove it. Doing so killed my chance of doing somekind of autopsy on the failed , old logo.  But there was plenty of water inside when I ripped it apart.  Prior to installing the new assembly I tried it with the old harness and it works fine.   Does anyone have any insight as to where the water is getting into this emblem? I intend to seal the new logo with slow curing epoxy this time around using a syringe.  I think this newer emblem may be an updated unit which I hope GM got the vendor to fix. It has an October 2025 date on it.    If this one  fails,  I am just going to revert back to the non-illuminated letters….AFTER PULLING THE GRILL.    Any thoughts on sealing with epoxy would be appreciated. Thx!   Doug
    • PS: Here's pic of the 2014 wheels I'd like to run when it's not winter. Stuck my finger around new wheel caliper setup. Very little clearance. I suspect these won't fit, but won't know for sure till I try.   Edit: And my first mod. Stubby antenna from the old truck.
