Aftermarket Remote Start

Recommended Posts

I'm really sick of my GM remote start. The range is so short it is practically useless. I've been looking at some of the new Viper remote starts and they look really nice. I dont' think I want to go the GM 2 way remote upgrade route since I've read some disappointing reviews about its "upgraded range".

So my question is this, has anyone put an aftermarket remote start in one of the GMT-900's that already had a factory remote start? Is it even possible? If so any ideas on what I may need. The last remote start I put in was a nightmare; I'm wondering if installation has gotten easier or if I should trust someone else to do it?

See my other post, but in essence, the easiest thing to do is forget about the factory remote start, and install an aftermarket remote start. You don't have to worry about your truck having it or not. The DEI trained techs will work better with their stuff, and really don't like to mess with integrating factory components if they don't have to.
