Hi guys, I have a 04 sierra 1500, it did not come with a factory tow package. I bought a hitch from the wreckers and installed it. Now my question is about the wiring, is it plug and play or do i have to wire the whole thing?

Yep, plug and play.... If you are adding a brake box(electric brakes) then i recommend Tekonsha...and also buy the plug... it plugs into the fuse box under the dash on the fire wall next to the steering column....

As far as the light connection, well choose the one you prefer, any auto parts store can help you out.. you might have to add a "t" but its all plug and play.. no splicing or anything..

I used to install these hitches, brake controllers, etc on these vehicles at an RV store when i was in college... its has been a while so i may be a little off.. but i am pretty sure about this..

Not exactly, the factory has blunt cut wires taped up back there, you will need to connect them to the terminals of whichever plug you choose, I wouldn't say splicing but, its not really plug and play either. More like, connect and play.

we are talking about a GMT-800 (04 model), it is plug and play with the harness. GMT-900s are different

trailer connector at the rear is not blunt cut wires either, just needs the plug terminal. I had a 2003 with no factory trailer package and added it.

Yes, it just needs the part you plug the trailer into.

This is the part he needs

The wires that he will connect to this plug are taped above the spare tire to the cross member.

The '99-'02 GMT800's have blunt-cut wires,However the '03-'07's do have a plug on the end where you simply plug the connector in,so the '03-'07's are plug-n-play.

I can't remember the part number off hand, and I won't be back to work until Tuesday,But I can post it when I get back.

That's for his marble cab floor instead of carpet.
