Big Joe Posted August 25, 2002 Posted August 25, 2002 Ok, I have a little problem.....Seems a bottle of Schnapps has leaked on my back seat of my 2001 HD. I tried cleaning it with just a wash cloth with hot water.....It seemed to work. But just checked it again and the seat seems to be very ruff in that area....Almost like the seat dried out or something....Does anyone know how I can clean this??? The bottle ran down threw the seat all the way to the carpeting...Dont know how to clean that either.....Any help would be greatly appreciated.....Thanks Joe.....By the way, the are cloth seats.....
Stepside Z Posted August 26, 2002 Posted August 26, 2002 Try Simple Green. That may do the trick for you.
JimWilson Posted August 26, 2002 Posted August 26, 2002 The sugar content of the liquid is what's most likely giving you the problem. If you want to try the mildest "cure" lay a very wet towel over the top of the stain and let it sit for about an hour. Then use bath towels to dry it, first by pressing on the spot, then wiping it. If that doesn't work you can try a regular upholstery cleaner, but do a spot check in an inconspicuous location before you use it on the stain.
CMNTMXR81 Posted August 26, 2002 Posted August 26, 2002 This would'nt be a problem if you'd have kept the bottle in the cup holder.
bluenote Posted August 26, 2002 Posted August 26, 2002 Seems a bottle of Schnapps has leaked on my back seat of my 2001 HD. I'm sorry to say it, but this is a definite case of alcohol abuse. When I think of that poor, defenseless bottle, and the fact it never got to realize it's potential....I get a little tear in my eye....sniff, sniff
Big Joe Posted August 26, 2002 Author Posted August 26, 2002 You are not the only one.....I am not too happy either....It was on the back seat for about a week because I won it in a golf tournament....Didnt have time to take it out of the truck....Actually had it on my rain jacket just in case something did happen.....Thanks to the girlfriend and her mother in the back seat "SOMEHOW" but they are not sure it got moved.....Hopefully it will work....It was so hot here a few weeks ago I couldnt even smell it leaking....It was, well I guess not, maybe evaporating before I could smell it.....
JimWilson Posted August 27, 2002 Posted August 27, 2002 Good Call Jim! I used to do detailing on the side...
ludicrist Posted August 28, 2002 Posted August 28, 2002 try woolite heavy traffic foam cleaner rub it in with your hand on the seat and carpet let it dry and vacum up works very well for me on coffee and every thing else .

JimWilson Posted August 28, 2002 Posted August 28, 2002 Oxiclean is pretty amazing Be careful with that stuff, it's not as safe for all fabrics as they make it out to be. And from personal experience I can say that it does work well on some things, but it's not all that great.

I'm sure you know how gross those things can be. When she brought it home I said my daughter is not riding in that I don't care if it is a spare. She used Oxiclean on that fabric and I wish I would have taken before and after pics. It was a light blue color with some funky designs on it and when she got it clean she then dyed it purple. I never thought I'd say something like this but it looked cool as he!! I took the new seat I had in my truck out and put it in there.
