DEV1ST8R Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 Is there a way to bypass the factory GM alarm (at least on a 2009+) if a door is opened with the key and not the key fob? I don't want to get the attention of all my neighbors while trying to figure it out... Will it turn off and run if you put the key in the ignition and start it? I know all my past aftermarket alarms had a hidden emergency shut-off/bypass switch.
[email protected] Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 It should unlock and disable the alarm just fine when using a key. If you set it off you can crank up the truck, press a button on the fob, or put key in door and turn it. If you don't want the alarm to activate ever(permanently disabling it) then find the wire inside the door that runs to the key turn switch and ground it to something inside the door. Or you could find the wire at the BCM and ground it there.
peterarch Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 If you unlock the door with a key, even the factory ones the alarm still goes off in my truck, all you gotta do tho is throw it in the ignition and turn the truck on and it should stop tho

Yone Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Is there any reason to get an aftermarket alarm? The only reasons I could see would be for a glass breakage alarm or a different siren noise...
leg7228 Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 From owner's manual for a 09 GMC "If you do not want to activate the theft-deterrent system, the vehicle should be locked with the door key after the doors are closed." Hope this helps.
