Tow Mirrors And Tailgate Debadge

Added tow mirrors recently and debadged the gate. What do you think? I like the tow mirrors but I was a bit unsure if it would look right since it's only got a 2" RC level.

Here's how it came off the lot.

And here's it's current state.

Now you just need some new rims, and some running boards (in my opinion)

Been tempted to add the towing mirrors myself. I don't tow all that often but something about the look of the truck with towing mirrors makes me want to do it.

The sun on the second pic looks like one of the mirrors is painted to match the truck...Hmmmm might look good!!

same questions, plus how easy was the install? I love the look of these mirrors but I am scared to lose my mirros that automatically tuck in with a flick of a switch

I paid $213 plus tax from GMPartsDirect. No these are not powered at all. No blinkers on these ones. Not heated. Yes they do manually slide in and out 6 inches or so and have 3 fold positions: folded in, normal driving, and they fold further toward the front of the truck for towing.

The install was pretty simple. Instructions are included with the tow package kit. You simply pull back the black piece on the inside of the door behind the mirror. It is held with retaining clips. The loosen three nuts and remove old mirror assembly. Line up new mirror assembly and tighten nuts back on the new mirror's bolt threads. Push black plastic piece back and you're done.

I did have a bit of trouble when removing the old mirrors with a plastic piece that needs pinched to pull out through it's hole. After a bit of wiggling it came through. The new mirrors don't have that piece though; I guess GM figured it wasn't needed?

Also, I didn't remove the door panel. You don't have to but if you accidentally drop a nut/washer you would have to pull back the door panel to get it again. Just take your time and be careful about what you're doing and you'll be fine. I actually tied fishing line to the one nut when putting it back on in case I dropped it.

EDIT: Keep in mind that this install was with manual mirrors. Powered mirrors would require a few extra steps I'd imagine.
