Fuel Pump Question

2003 Suburban, 2500, 6L, 250,000Km, two fuel tanks (one on driver's side and the second a pillow tank above spare wheel.)

 

Just recently been hearing a loud moaning sound from above the spare wheel area, in addition to the typical whine from the side fuel tank pump. Notice the engine stumbled a bit, while simultaneously hearing the moaning sound stumble.

I guess the second tank's fuel pump is about to die, right?

Which pump is primary in feeding the engine?; the side fuel tank pump, or the back fuel tank pump?

Could I just electrically disconnect the secondary pump and keep driving with the side tank?
