I am looking at a 2500 Silverado 4x4 with a 6.5L Turbo Diesel. I have heard that the fuel pump fails about every 20000 miles. Any confirmation on that?

They're bad, but not that bad!!! Definitely an exaggeration, more like 60K-80K depending. Much longer if certain mods are made. At least according to other posters. I've recently read of someone having over 200K on his. The mechanical versions (pre-'93, I think) are supposedly more dependable but the newer electronic versions supposedly have most of the bugs worked out of them. Plus they have something like 7yr/120K warranty on them.

The only problem my buddy had with his was a set of head gaskets...
