3.08 Gear Ratio On '10's

Is anyone running bigger tires on their 2010 5.3 w/ the now standard 3.08 gear ratio? How does it hold up? I'm looking to put 285/65/18's on, but that'll increase the gear ratio into the 2's. I like the idea of better fuel economy (well, as much as I'm going to get from a leveled crew cab with mud tires  ), but don't want to lose too much power/acceleration, offroad performance, or towing ability. Max towing requirements are the occasional (like once a month) 2 ton boat. Thanks guys.

Your gonna feel it.. but it won't hurt to bad. You have the 6-speed so that will help some.

That is only 1" taller than stock. It will reduce engine revs 50 rpm's in 6th gear @ 70mph. No big deal.

Awesome. Thanks for softening the blow guys. I know there's tow-mode or manual shifting to limit gear searching and keep it out of 6th, but I was just worried trying to get up to speed towing would be a pain in the arse.

........and nevermind. Just checked my RPO code was GU6, so I have the 3.42 anyway :fume: Add that to the increasingly long list of things the salesman took an incorrect guess at.

In that case there will be a 56rpm decrease @ 70mph in 6th. :fume:
