Ok. Im a newb to this forum, and i just got my 09 silverado Z/71 a few months ago and am trying to figure things out. Due to the high cost of lift kits (4" and 6") and the chance of voiding the warranty, im going to just go with leveling kit right now. im told that i can only get 33" tires with a leveling kit, but i am also going to get a ranchhand replacement bumper and im wondering that because of the "trimming of the fat" and what not by getting rid of the front bumper, could i get 34" 35" tires even though its only a leveling kit.

Thanks

With a 2in leveling kit you can fit 285/65/18 tires (roughly 33x11.50 on stock wheels) with no rubbing 295-305' with a little plastic/metal trimming on the rear of the fender. I had true 33x12.50 mud grapplers on my 07 but had to trim. wheel backspacing is the key to fitting tires on these trucks with such small squared off fenders which isnt bad looking.

I wouldnt consider removing the OEM bumper to replace it with a Ranchhand to be "trimming the fat"... those are some heavy-duty bumpers! You're almost certainly going to have to throw in the level kit to bring the front end up after that weight gain.

Now, could you add 34" or 35" tires to this truck with a level kit...sure. Be ready to trim some metal though.

Ok so trimming the fat wasnt what i truly meant. I understand that ranchhands are heavy duty and strait up heavy, but they dont fall as low as the oem bumpers and will open up room in the wheel well. and it is my intention to get a leveling kit before the bumpers, and once i have the leveling kit and bumpers then assess how much room there is to get bigger tires. im fine with 33's if that is the biggest. but was just kinda wondering if i could go bigger with having the ranch hands.

The clearance issues on these trucks is primarily with the back part of the fender, not the front bumper. Therefore, you could completely remove the front bumper and that wouldn't help you one bit in fitting bigger tires.

Are you planning on running stock or aftermarket wheels?

Thanks! that answers my question. for now im going to keep the stock rims. when i can afford a lift ill get new tires and rims as well.
