Newbie With New To Me 1998 Ecsb Stepside

Just bought a nice 1 owner black on grey 1998 ECSB stepside. Real good condition (for its age and compared to others I considered) with 190K well maintained miles.

Questions:

I need to hook up a brake controller and read on this forum about blue and white wires near the underhood fusebox. Is this on all models or only those with the factory tow package? Mine appears to not have the factory tow package (no trans cooler, no hitch receiver, but does have a 4-way trailer pigtail).

If my truck has it, what is the blue wire for (e.g. switched +12V power) and what is the white wire for? Is there a separate wire under the dash for the brake switch, and if so, what color?

The fuel gage vibrates a little back and forth. What's the typical cause and the fix?

Any help to a truck newbie who is a Chevy fan and experienced with cars would be greatly appreciated.

Congrats on the new truck... Can't help you with the wires, but I'm sure someone here will be able to help.

Typically the gauge vibrates is caused by a bad gauge motors. There are many repair places on ebay you can send it to.. or if your brave enough, buy the parts cheap enough to repair yourself.
