4x4 Indicator Light

Hi;

I've just purchased a 2007 NBS Silverado. It has the automatic transfer case. When I shift into any of the 4 wheel drive modes the little light on the knob changes and the transfer case shifts but the light in the tachometer does not come on. I can see the symbol in the tach face but it does not light. My 2009 Silverado truck at work has a manual shift transfer case and when I shift it the light comes on. Is this normal with the automatic transfer case???

Yes the manual TC has the cluster light and the auto TC has the lights on the knob

..well..looks like we need an electical guru to trace down some wire diagrams and see if we can have both!

 

A dash indicator would be a plus.

Thanks for the replies. I thought that I might have had a lamp or led burned out but I now see that is not the case. It seems crazy to me that GM would make us rely on an indicactor light the size of a ball point pen to show when the truck is in 4x4. I have a feeling that my truck is going to be in 4x4 mode accidentally when it is not needed.
