Tire Pressure Monitoring System Is Pissing Me Off

I've searched and read all the threads on how to relearn the TPMS. I spent a good hour trying to relearn the tire positions, I let air out, I put air in, I released air for 30 seconds / 60 seconds / 90 seconds, I filled with air for 30 seconds / 60 seconds, I set all the tires to 35 PSI and tried all over again. At one point I had the front left set and showing 38 psi, but the rest just show --

I even drove around the block to ensure that all the sensors were awake and not in sleep mode. I tried letting air out for 20 seconds on each tire even though the horn would never honk telling me the system sees the sensor. Now the system just shows dashes on all the sensors.

WTF am I missing here?!?

1. Set parking brake

2. Turn key to run position

3. Using DIC activate learning - Horn honks twice

4. Start at Driver Front, Release or add air until horn honks, could take up to 30 seconds.

5. Move to Passenger Front, Release or add air until horn honks, could take up to 30 seconds.

6. Move to Passanger Rear, Release or add air until horn honks, could take up to 30 seconds.

7. Move to Drivers Rear, Release or add air until horn honks, could take up to 30 seconds.

This is pissing me off because after setting it to learn and the horn honks twice, it never honks again. The system was working fine except I rotated the tires and I wanted the position to be correct.

I rotated my tires and have mine all mixed up also. I will be watching this one closely.

Don't mess with the system or you will end up with no readings like me. :P I refuse to goto the dealer to have them take my money.

It is entirely possible you have something wrong with the sensor on the valve stem or some other component.

Ok, so I've never been able to get it to work following instructions, but tire shops can do it fast they have a tool, I've also heard that you can make a tool with a magnet.

Me personally, I rotate my tires myself every 10,000km. You don't have to re-learn them when you rotate. At least I've never had a warning and I still got all 4 reading through my DIC, after many rotations.

Im too lazy to worry about this trival item as it is quite annoying, and pretty much pointless unless you have the DIC panel which shows individual tire pressures but even then if they're all the same you know its all good. Plus like anyone can't figure out which tire blew out on the freeway without this thing.

I just did mine, and my only difference was that I pushed and held lock and unlock buttons on key fob till the 2 horn beeps. On my first try I think I released air to slowly, did not get horn chirp. Or perhaps I quit to quickly. Then I used very small screwdriver to push valve stem, air escaped much faster, and got horn chirp rather quickly. On all tires in about 5 seconds or so. Hope this helps.

I have reset mine after every tire rotation and have had no problems. I did use the key FOB to activate relearn though.

What steps do you need to take in order to do it with the key fob? I'll go try that right quick.

I buy all tire's from discount and this happened to me and I had to take it to the dealer for them to fix or reset the system,so I will be doing all my rotations at the dealer becuase discount didn't help one bit. It didn't happen the first time I rotate it was like the 3-4 time and all hell broke lose with it and the dealer charged me 40 to fix it and never came on again.

Set brake

Run position

Press and hold Lock and Unlock

Hear 2 horn chirps

then same tire order you mintioned

I think I figured it out, you only let air out for 5 seconds then just wait up to 30 seconds for the horn to beep. I'll mess with it more tomorrow. Thanks :P
