Np/nv 263 Transfer Case Failure - Twice

2004 GMC 2500 HD, 130K miles, I had a transfer case go bad in July, rear output shaft bearing let loose/destroyed the case where the bearing rests, tons of shaft runout. Replaced the transfer case with a used one with 70K on it. Now @ 140K miles, I have similar noises, I have minimal output shaft runout, but I have about 1/4" or more of end play. I can feel the whole bearing move in and out with the shaft.

1) I guess I am looking at replacing the rear half of the case when I rebuild this thing. Thoughts?

2) What would cause me to go through xfer cases. I just had ujoints replaced when I swapped cases.

Any help appreciated, thanks.

you bought a used t case ,thats why .

buy a rebuilt one,if you price out a chain and sprockets, you will shit,

find a local gear center ,they may also rebuild t cases,,

dealers know of local builders to give their customers an inexpensive alternative price to seal a service visit rather than new GM parts
