Limited Exhaust Options

My dad has a 2007 NBS Silverado 2500 HD with the gas engine (6.0 or 6.2L?). He loves the sound of the Dynomax stainless cat-back system on my 1500 series, but when he spoke to Dynomax, the only system they offer for a 2500 is aluminized.

Since we live in the heavily-salted NY/NJ area, he will only consider a full stainless steel system, but it looks like no one really makes a kit for these trucks under $500. Anyone have recommendations for a good full stainless cat-back kit that will not break the bank? He does not care about the sound as much as the quality.

Thanks in advance.

Its gunna be pretty hard to find a good 304 stainless exhaust kit for that price. And the only stainless kits that I can think of that fit that truck is Corsa and Magnaflow but there around $800. Another suggestion would be to buy a Dynomax stainless muffler and have an exhaust shop bend you some stainless to fit the truck. But I dont think it will be in the $500 price range your looking for.

We are thinking of measuring the muffler and ordering either a stainless Dynomax Ultra-Flo or Magnaflow and putting in with band clamps ourselves.

The only problem with just cutting out the stock and putting an aftermarket one is that that new one will be shorter so you'll have to get a piece of pipe to make up the difference. I cheaped out and just got a pipe from autozone. Rusted out in a few months.

If you go that route I would take it to a shop and have the put it in. One shop quoted me $60 to do it around my area. Yours might be more or less.

FYI if you do it yourself with band clamps -where you clamp the pipes together put some anti-sieze on it. It will help stop corrision and things will come apart a easier down the road if you need to.

There are a few vendors on Ebay that sell Stainless exhaust pipe in 10' lengths. Might be able to purchase that and have the local shop bend it. Or order a small section of it and purchas a regular cab system and add to it. I would think the only difference between your truck and what is available is how long the system is. You can always add to it to adapt it to fit I would think.

Try searching JBM exhaust web-site for that application, inexpensive but decent quality... I found deals there before for previous vehicles, was impressed with performance and sound, just a little drone.... Good Luck

magnaflow makes a system for the old body style hd's that's stainless steel. If you look around it's like $530 I think . If his is a entended cab long bed you could prolly just buy one for a crew cab long bed and but it down to where you need it. Also Magnaflow has a lifetime warranty on their exhaust
