Best/favorite 9005 Bulb

my 2006 denali has a low beam out,

i was curious what u guys like to replace them with ,

is ther e a certain brand preferred, silverstars?

 

also, why with the denali's do the low beam have that projector style lamp if its not a xenon..is there much difference than in the standard bulb of the non denalis

My experience with the Sylvania silverstars is that they have a relatively short life span. I put PIAA's in about eight months ago and they're still going. Time will tell.

Sylvania is good. Phillips makes a great superwhite bulb if you can find it.

I have used Silver Stars and Silverstar ultras. I have since switched to DDM Tuning HIDs. The cost is almost the same and the difference is unbelievable. 55watt is the way to go. Buy a cheap replacement bulb. Better yet swap one the high beam bulb in and order a set of DDMs.

Switch to an HIR bulb. Either 9011, or 9012 depending on which you need. Those are the best halogens on the market probably. VERY impressed. Much brighter, whiter(NOT BLUER), longer life, and same wattage as OEM. I've never really been a fan of HID's in reflectors not built for them. They always seem to work worse than OEM halogens..

Replace both bulbs at once. Otherwise you end up with one brighter than the other and it's distracting. You can either go to a Farm & Tractor store that sells tractor parts (like TSC) since John Deer uses them, or you can get the 9011/9012 from the Chevy dealer. You can also order off GMPartsDirect or CandlePowerForums.com for the best price. 9011 replaces a 9005 high beam, 9012 replaces a 9006 low beam. There is a slight modification needed to the bulb base in order to fit because of federal regulations about bulbs being the exact same. A quick google search will show you whats necessary. It will literally take 2 minutes.

so what is it about a 9011 that makes it different from a 9005

 

i thoought those codes were describing the style of the bulb, like H4 or H3 are diff size/style
