madstyle1 Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 Does anybody have this unit installed on their aftermarket deck? Its to help keep all the factory chimes and on star stuff. Is this all necessary to buy? Gmos-lan-02 is the part number
madstyle1 Posted October 9, 2010 Author Posted October 9, 2010 can anyone help me? alot of people here change their factory deck im just curious to see if they bought this part or is it even worth buying...
jdubya Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 Yes you need it to retain the door chimes and onstar capability.

Is this all necessary to buy? Gmos-lan-02 is the part number This is the Metra brand harness. PAC makes one too, OS-4. These both keep chimes and onstar. Scosche also makes one. If you don't care about keeping onstar then there are other harnesses you can get. Just make sure the harness is compatible with your truck whether it has Bose or not. Try emailing their customer service to get specifics, or you can call Crutchfield. If you want to retain steering wheel controls, that's another harness too.

I would get the PAC if I was buying it again. PAC has interfaces for connecting steering wheel controls etc... so that you don't need to have a much of extra separate modules.
jdubya Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 I have the Scocshe version of this it sucks! I heard good things about the PAC model....
madstyle1 Posted October 17, 2010 Author Posted October 17, 2010 can you elaborate more of the scocshe model? cuz i just ordered that model...

Do you know if you have to use the PAC SWI with the PAC-OS4? or can you use the Axxess SWI. The Axxess supposedly is easier to set up.
jdubya Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 can you elaborate more of the scocshe model? cuz i just ordered that model... well the first one that I had was blown out and it was bran new. Second, there is no way to adjust the ONSTAR volume with this unit. I do not have the steering wheel volume controls so it tells you to use the dimmer nob? WTF... It doesn't work for shit so when I hit the ONSTAR button it is blaring loud. Second the chime on the Scocshe unit is in the actual scocshe box and sounds gay. The PAC actually uses the factory set up through the speaker... Those are just a few, I could go on if you would like.
