Dipstick Tube Bracket Broke

So before I left to go watch the Rangers game this afternoon (GO RANGERS!!!!!) I decided to check my oil level. I pulled the dipstick and the bracket that holds the tube to the manifold broke in half, with the dipstick tube coming out with the dipstick. I called several dealerships and finally got a replacement tube. The guy made it sound like they've had a lot of those happening, and the tube looks like it's a different length than the original.

I haven't gone to replace the tube yet, but I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this? I have a bad feeling that once I'm done putting the new tube in that the dipstick is going to be too long. I'll find that out tomorrow I guess.

Also, I was kind of disappointed that the oil dipstick - part of the engine - is not covered in the powertrain warranty. It just seems tacky to me. Yeah it's only $16 and probably less headache for me to do it than have them do it, but still it's a little cheap on their part.le

Does anyone with a 2009 or 2010 model truck with the 5.3 have a picture of the passenger side of the engine? I can't for the life of me get this stupid tube back in. It's a completely different shape than the original, and the bracket that's tacked to it is tiny in comparison to the original, so I don't even think it goes into the same spot. If anyone has a closeup of that side of their engine that might help me figure out where and how that tube is routed I would appreciate it! I already called 2 dealerships to make sure I had the right part # and they all think I do.

Thanks in advance

Alright, nevermind. I went back out and stared at it long enough and figured it out. Then it went right in.

For the next person who has to do this, the replacement tube does not come up near the back of the engine of the passenger side. It comes out pointing towards the grille above the front cylinder on that side. The tube slides in between the exhaust manifold and the block at the 2nd cylinder from the front, and the bracket on the tube bolts into a different hole on the block. GM has an unused threaded hole about 3-4 inches forward of the hole the old one used. Just re-use the bolt from the old bracket and it goes right in.

I hope these pictures will help the next person.
