What Tire Pressure Are You Running

I was running 42 psi in my Cooper LTZs 33" but I notice the outer treat chopping up on both the front tires. I had everything checked..My alignment was perfect, front struts/ shock look good . I did notice my ride was a bit firm. So I put the truck on a flat surface and noticed that the tread wasnt sitting perfectly flat, so I came to the conclusion that 42 psi was way to much air. The truck must have been riding on the center tread and every bump in the road flattened out tread briefly and the outer tread would finally make contact with the road. thus wearing the outer tread wear unevenly. So I let out some air to 32psi. Now the tread looks much flatter. I also noticed my ride was softer and smoother over bumps.. Now I wonder if Im running to little air pressure.. what is everyone else running on there 275/60/20??

The best starting point for air pressure is what is shown on the decal on either the driver's door or the B-pillar door jamb. While 18" and 20" tires may have a slight difference in air pressure (from the factory), start with what is listed. Then you can experiment by changing a couple psi at a time. If you want a softer ride, drop the pressure a couple pounds, If you carry heavy loads or tow a trailer, add a couple pounds. Sometimes just a couple psi more will make a big difference in handling.

i've found that around 40 front and 35 back work out well for a crew cab 1500. (i used to run 35 front and 30 rear and the ride was even better... but the roads around me suck so i added a few PSI to protect the wheels. Anything over 40 PSI is overkill in a 1500 unless you're towing/hauling. When i pull the boat, i'll pump the rears up to 40-50)

Make sure you rotate your tires frequently. I rotate mine every 5k when i change the oil. These trucks tear out the outer tread in the front from turning.

Ok 32-35 sounds pretty good. I hardly ever tow . The kicker is I only had 3100 miles on my new coopers ltz when I noticed the outer tread chopping. The tire Installer at Pep boys put the tires at 42 cold psi so.. I bitched enough and they are replacing 2 of my tires for free.

I've been running 40psi on the way around. I have right at 10,000 miles with no uneven wear so far. My local tire shop claims they have found this to be the best pressure for the size I'm running (275/55/20) on our trucks.

I run 35lbs on all 4 and have nice tread wear at 35K miles on them. Always rotated at 5k miles .

i'm at 35 psi on all 4 corners and ran the rears at 40 when I had the back loaded up, had 4 passengers, and was pulling a trailer. I believe the max psi is 50 psi, but not sure truck is at home and i'm being productive at work.

I have a 2005 GMC Sierra SLE (4X2) It says to put 30 in the front PSI and 35 in the back...why the difference in air pressure for tires that are the same size? Anybody know? Also if it is a little off the exact presure will that put excess wear on the tires?

I run 38 psi on all 4 tires (stock 275/55r20) and at almost 38K they looked almost new with great tread left.

20" on mine and I like 34 up front (more weight) and 32 in back unless I load it.

has anyone noticed a difference in mpg's with different pressures? I just got P275/65 18 Hankooks, and they set them at 35 all around, i used to run 38 withe the Revo's, and maybe its the tire but i saw a drop in about 1.5 mpg, not a big concern,. they are bigger, but wondering if that 3 lbs will make a difference.

and why is 35 psi the magic number the tire stores set it at?.. is that what is listed in the door?
