I painted mine, but that vinyl American flag looks very sharp! Does it hold up well? I'm afraid it wouldn't last long on my truck as often as I wash it  .

It has held up fine no issues and I do wash mine pretty frequently. We will see how it lasts through the winter. I have another and it is easy enough to replace if needed

LMC Truck now sells black bow tie emblems

yeah i was suprised to see that. just got the new LMC with the 07+ stuff in it.

if your going to paint your bowtie, 2 coats of black krylon fusion and 1 coat of a rustoleoum clear spraypaint works perfect.

Any tips on removing and replacing the tailgate badge?

I used a light sawing motion with fishing line and pulled the rear emblem off. I spent nearly two hours rubbing the residual adhesive off. I cleaned it with goof off then waxed. I did this the day after I bought the truck new. It looks a lot better without that gargantuan hunk of yellow plastic. 3M makes a pinstripe remover (drill attachment) that safely removes all adhesives without damaging the finish. It runs for roughly $20. I was cheap and committed to finishing by hand. Next time I will buy the 3M product.
