If You Could Get Any Size Bridgestone Or Firestone?

Ok, I was highest bidder on a set of 4 tires.....any size Bridgestone or Firestone that I want. I was planning to get 285/70R17 Firestone Destination M/T, but now I am wondering if I should "upgrade" since I got a good deal.

Truck is 07 GMT-900 Silver Birch Crew Cab SLE2 with 2" skyjacker leveling kit and stock 17" alloys.

I could go the same M/T tires in a 285/65R18 and get some new blingy wheels or I could buy some 20" wheels and go with a set of performance tires or some A/T's.....

Decisions, Decisions...

If you had to chose what would you get?

I would go with the 285/70/17 Destination MT. They will look much better than going with bigger wheels. Big wheels do not look good IMO, especially with a MT. On another note, the Destination MT is supposed to be a great tire and they look GREAT. I have been debating a set of those or Goodyear wrangler duratracs for my next set of tires.

Thanks for your advice....I have been leaning the same way....on a 4X4 I prefer more sidewall and less wheel....gives it a more offroad aggressive look I think....plus it adds some more capability or durability I think for off road and farm use. (I do little farming on the side) More sidewall equals less chance of scraping the wheels on curbs, or flat spotting on potholes.....plus the tires are more plentiful and cheaper in 17" than the bigger sizes.

so, probably go with the 285/70R17 M/Ts on stock wheels for winter......if I love them and the noise and wear is good, I might swap to some nice chrome wheels in the spring......if they are not quite what I want, I'll make them my winter set and then go with a more street friendly tire for the good weather months.

I have to agree with everything you just said. Give the Destination MTs a try and see what you think. I've read really good reviews on them. Just make sure to keep them rotated, keep an eye on air pressure, and you should get pretty good tread wear. At least for an MT. Plus those tires look mean!

The Firestone Destination M/T was the mud tire I had decided to put on for the winter months to go with the 18'' wheels I had just bought. I read excellent reviews on this tire and was all fired up to get a set and was told they were on national backorder. Meaning nobody had them and they didn't know when they would be made again. In the sizes I needed anyway.

The guy at the tire shop told me about Micky Thompson MTZ and after reviewing them and also seeing good reviews this is the tire I bought.

The Firestone is a great looking tire though.

Indeed, they are on National Backorder.....expected production is Mid November...but who knows....I have the 285/70R17 Firestone Destination M/T on order....I just hope they get here before the snow flies. My stockers are near pull point and won't be much good in the sloppy stuff. If they don't get here in time, I guess I will be searching for a set of winter tires, stock take offs, or something...
