Old "new" Guy With 1st Silverado

Hey folks, I just purchased my first full size truck and have oh-so-many questions about it. It's a brand new second-hand 05 Silverado...base model. It's all I could afford but with your help and knowledge (and some money), will get it up to where I want it to eventually be. I see some pretty nice trucks on this site as well as a whole bunch of smart owners. Glad to be here and look forward to hours of fun and sharing ideas.

My first "big" question is:

Are the Base Model Trucks (or lower trim packages), wired up to accept the higher trim package options? i.e. is the wiring (harness/connectors/fuse) already installed so I could bolt up a powered drivers bucket seat in place of the manual seat? I was hoping I could install one "option" at a time as money permits.

Many (most) times the wiring will be there for various options. But some upgrades require a trip to the dealer to have programming to turn these options "on".

Thank you Sir. I think I'll be looking at the Base Model Options and go from there. I suppose the best bet at the moment would be to physically check if connections are present, and if so, research whether or not it requires programming to turn them "on".
