Me and my dad a few yes back (2 yrs in a row) did a thing called Christmas in April (habitat for humanity project).  We fixed up an exisiting home

1st yr I sided a house and painted the windows.

2nd year we fixed up a girl scout house (house wasnt used in years).  They are using it now.  We got hooked up with so many g.s cookies

That yr i put in a a few drop ceilings

It was fun and i felt good doing it.

Well, crap!  It didn't happen.  For me, at least.  I couldn't find the dang place.  I wasn't at work on Friday due to a class I had to attend, so it could have been cancelled or changed the date or time and I didn't know about it.  But I followed the map they gave us, and showed up at 8 am, but where my map said to go, there was nothing going on.  I drove around for about an hour all over the little roads around there trying to find something that looked like a house was being constructed, and found nothing.  Found some that could use some re-construction though.  :chevy:

Oh well, hopfullu I can catch the next one.

This summer all the guys that I made Chief with worked on one. It is a good program and something that really helps people out.

Had to do "Sophomore Service" in high school...basically volunteer community service projects.  I ended up at a daycare helping out(inner city area).  Felt like a stranger for the first week, but at the end the kids would grab me legs when I was getting ready to leave.  Doing some good like that always makes you feel good.  Always say it's a shame our department is so busy arresting folks instead of doing more positive things, thus why I like lockouts and stuff when I get sent on them, helps keep the cynical attitude down.

Alright, going again tomorrow.  I now know exactly where the place is, so there should be no problems finding it this time.

SOB!!  Canceled because it was wet and muddy at the site.  Ladders were sinking into the ground.  :D   Of course, I didn't find out until I got there.

Maybe I'll try again this Saturday.
