Does anyone know of any problems while using a Superchip or Hypertech Programmer while towing a heavy load such as an RV?

Also, which one is better, Superchip or Hypertech?

Thanks!!

I use the hypertech III because it lets you adjust other settings such as shift firmness and tire size.I use my truck for towing almost every weekend and I haven't had any problems at all, just make sure you change the thermostat to get the most bang for your buck from your programmer. Also, don't turn of the ignition no matter what,I thought mine had stopped (froze up)programming and I turned of the key(BAD MOVE) and I was gonna start over.Needless to say it crashed my computer on the truck,it woulnd't even start.I removed the computer from the truck and overnighted it to hypertech, they fixed it and overnighted it back to me for no charge.I thought that was pretty cool of them.............Gun

If you have the Allison, the Hypertec wont touch it. I had it on my 01 1/2T. supercab, and it did a bunch of stuff, including the auto trans stuff. Traded that truck off and got this on,(see below) and a new Hypertec. The Allison has got a seperate controller and the hypertec cant get to it.(not that it needs it anyway!) As far as noticing the difference on the 8.1? Dunno, I drove it for 3 days without any mods, then started all my mods, including the hypertec. Didnt really get used to the stock settings, so I couldnt "feel" the changes that took place. Personally, If i had to do it again, I wouldnt waste my money on the hypertec with the 8.1L engine since it cant get to the tranny. Maybe someone else that has run the 8.1 for a longer period of time stock, then hypered it could tell you more.  I think that with the 8.1L/Allison, the only things you really need to do, is add an intake kit and a catback exhaust to let that big ol engine breath. The tranny learns from you anyway. The engine braking is something to behold!
