Installing The Amp...

I am getting ready to add my sub and amp to my bose sound system. I've got my PAC adapter interface ordered. Got my sub box built and ready to go. Now I'm just wondering how to get my power cable through the firewall? My truck is an '04 Silverado ext. cab. Most people say there is usually and hole already there or a grommet or something. I can't seem to find anything without pulling out something that is already there. I am not completely opposed to drilling although I would like to avoid it. Anybody got any suggestions? If you have added an amp already where did you run the power cable through?

On my 95, I removed the antenna cable grommet, put a "chase nipple" electrical fitting in the hole, and then ran both the antenna cable and amp wire through the nipple. Don't know if you can do that with an 04 though.

I used to have an '03 that I installed a sound system in. I just made a small cut to the big rubber grommet that houses the main wire harness then ran my amp power cable through there, under the carpert, and back to my rear wall. Just throw some silicone on the grommet once you have the wire through it to seal it back up.

Thanks for the input! I am still trying to decide where would be best place. Also not sure where this big main grommet is that people are talking about...

If i remember right on my '01 that i had i put it through the hole already there. It was somewhere to the upper left of the brake pedal and it was somewhat of a tight squeeze for the 4 guage wire i ran but it fit. Sadly its more work than its worth for me to swap out this POS bose system i have now :) Maybe i'll remember when it gets light out to go look in my 06 and see if i can find it on that
