'99 2500 Wheels Work On '01 2500d

Hello everyone!! New to the forum and Heavy Duty trucks. I have an '01 2500HD Ext Cab SB 4x4 w/ 8.1L and 6 speed manual with 93000 miles. It has after market chrome wheels and BFG 295/75/16 tires. I want a set of factory GM aluminum wheels and I have a buddy who is willing to trade me a set even up for my chrome ones. His are off of a 1999 2500 Ext Cab SB 4x4 w/ 6.0L. Also what in the world can I do about oil consumption? I've put two qts in it  in 1000 miles...and that is just driving around with 2-300lbs of tools in the bed. Ive seen something about Seafoam...what is that and how is it suppose to work. Also how can I get the exhaust manifold bolts out without breaking them :nopity: ? The manifolds are leaking and they maybe cracked as well  . I'm the rebel in my family because my dad and brother drive Fords (Dad has 03 Super Duty 5.4 w/6spd manual and 240,000 HARD miles). He has hardly done anything to it but run the hell out of it. Anyway sorry for getting off topic. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

You will need to trade center caps too because I don't believe they are the same.

Ugh crap. My buddy's wheels are in perfect shape and he ordered new center caps for them because they were missing when he bought his truck. My center caps are chrome after market (the have what I believe to be a double "S" stamped on them). I am also going to have to buy lug nuts because he only has one set which he uses on his factory steel wheels for winter and the aluminum wheels during summer. Where is a good place to get the centers and lug nuts? Thanks for the reply and any additional info

The center caps will work just fine on your truck also. If the center caps worked on his truck with those rims, then they'll work on your truck with those rims. Your double S as you call it center caps will not work with the GM rims, though.

If you put a 180 stat in that 8.1 it will help with the oil, just make sure the ecm is tuned for that 180

Like was said, swap your buddy the center caps and lugs with the wheels and you should be all set.

IF that doesn't work and you're getting the forged alum wheels and your truck is a chev, I have a set of chev center caps for the forged wheels (RPO PYO if I remember correctly) that I'd part with. PM me if interested
