TEXACO  is about to be switched over to SHELL. What I'm not sure about is Chevron, because the name of the company is Texaco-Chevron. Anyone else know? I wonder if they'll keep Texaco's Gasoline with the stuff in it(basically same as Chevron's stuff)I think Shell has their own though. this is confusing

Isn't BP and Amoco doing the same thing. It is going to be a BP (Beyond Petrolem) station selling Amoco products? Not to mention the Exxon-Mobil merger that has already happened. Buy Citgo gas and say the heck with all of them. Citgo buys most of their oil from Mexico and South America.

Chevron gas is staying the same.  I read the whole legal thing on the merger and it said that all of the Texacos in the US would be disapprearing and the owners of the Texaco stations would have to drop the name and find a different company to get gas from.  Chevron will now be the only gas marketed in North America by the Chevron-Texaco Corp.  Texaco branded gas will be marketed only in South and Central America by the C-T corp.  And some other subsidary of Chevron-Texaco will be marketing gas in Asia or something like that.  :thumb: Basically our good ole Chevron gas isn't going anywhere.  As for the Shell thing, maybe they are picking up all of the stations that where Texacos or something.  I'm not too worried, I only use Chevron. :thumb:

DON'T BUY CITGO!!!!

 

Citgo adds a oxygenated RFG that corrodes fuel injectors therefore causing them to plug up and misfire.  If you complain to a dealer about when you first start your vehicle and it misfires, but goes away after a few minutes, the first question they'll ask is "What brand gas do you use?"  If you answer "Citgo" they reply "Bingo, there's your problem!"

 

The best fuel to buy is Mobil, BP/Amoco, Shell, or Phillips/Cononco.

 

It doesn't matter what names are in the company letterhead, BP gas is still Amoco gas.  It's just the fancy name given to the holding company of the two merged companies.

Does anyone else have Optima??? We have one here in a Wal-Mart parking lot! Gas seems to be pretty good, I have seen a local Sunoco distributor delivering gas there but not 100% sure it is Sunoco??

      2015 Sierra 1500 here. Leaks from the sunroof to front driver side and soaks carpet. How do I fix this? Thanks!

      I will be doing that for sure, but I need to solve who has/ where I can find a bidirectional scan tool that will support OBD 1.5. I'm kicking myself because I ebay'ed a Snap On MT2500 that I didn't think I'd ever need anymore. D'oh!! I'd rather not buy another, so I'll contact a few local shops to see if they have one and how much they'd want to do the procedure. I'd rather have the ability to do it myself... I wish there was a modern tool that could do it all, but I'd have no idea what to buy.   The theory with the pulled timing is that it mimics a rich condition. The delayed spark causes incomplete burn and the O2 sensor picks up low oxygen levels. That's interpreted as a rich condition so the PCM pulls fuel and that shows up in the deeply negative fuel trims.

      There's a bunch of tea leaves that you've read, but in any case the delayed timing is unusual. Not sure how that relates to the rich at idle vs. 'normal' while driving.   If you're in this deep, might be worth investigating, and re-learning the sensor. What have you got to lose? Plus, it properly fixes the timing cover leak.

      The only problem I have seen this cause is longer crank times.
