yes. I'm a Mason..

"The first rule of Freemasonry is you don't talk about Freemasonry."

"The second rule of Freemasonry is YOU DON'T TALK ABOUT FREEMASONRY!"

I am not a Mason, HOWEVER, I still knew these rules. It wouldn't surprise me if this got deleted.

Kids these days.

J/K I am one of the youngest on here probably.

I thought had to ask/apply to join. Thats the only way correct?

I was wondering about the monthly dues. Can you give me a range?

depends on the lodge.. figure under $250 a year typically though..

as for joining you typically need an existing Mason to sponsor you.. but again lodge dependant because of the current financial times..

I don't think any of us Mods are Masons. :D

I'm not deleting/closing it until I see a good reason to.

I dunno much about it. It would be nice to know what they do and what they're about and stuff like that.

But if they wanna be all secretive and hide it like a teenage girl's Journal. That's just fine then! :D

Mason's for the most part are Philanthropists.. working to better the community thru charitable contributions and volunteer service.. a lot like the Catholic Knights of Columbus and such, the main difference being that we are not religious specific or religious by nature, you believe in whatever you believe in, as long as you believe in something and are not into satan worship as such..

Masons value religious, ethnic, cultural, social, and educational differences. We respect the opinions of others and strive to improve and develop as human beings. we value the continuous pursuit of knowledge, ethics, spirituality, and leadership to bring more meaning to our lives.

honor and integrity are vital, and we believe that honesty, compassion, trust, and knowledge are important for a well rounded member..

I volunteer in excess of 800 hours a year to my community, thru various programs.. I am not religious and I don't worship a god, but I do believe in a higher power and that my deeds define me as a person..

and the secretive part is just a matter of humbleness, at least in my opinion.. I do what I do, I don't need to tell people what I do to seek praise..

Thanks for sharing! Like I said I don't know much about them. All I knew about freemasons was the name. :P I'm sure there are other members in the same boat.

That last line in my previous post was just a playful rib not to be taken seriously. I hope it didn't rattle your nerves.

as stated earlier, Masons are big into giving, they run a very good burn center/hospital near me and its completely free to kids- they also host events like gun shows and stuff and they ride the little go carts in the parades

I also am a Mason. My yearly dues are only $50. I became a Mason for a couple of reasons. The most important to me was that my Grandpa was a Mason, and my Dad was a Mason. Both are deceased now, but my Dad was there for my Raising as a Master Mason, and then passed 4 months later. In IL, you only have to be 18 to be a Mason, and we can ask you. Whereas in other states you must be 21, and You have to ask.

I was under the impression one had to be a mason professionally (to some degree) to join as well...
