Truck Prices In Late '07/early '08

With all the talk lately about prices and "what did you pay for your truck" topics coming up, I got to thinking....

What were prices and incentives like back in late '07/early '08? Were the trucks more expensive or cheaper back then. From what I remember, that was before the tank in the automotive industry and before all the bailouts so I would assume that the truck prices would be higher than they are now. From looking around on the lots, trucks seemed to be pretty expensive all around (Chevy, Dodge, Ford, etc.). Dodge wanted $52-54K for a ST Quadcab Cummins at the time.

What about interest rates? They seem to be a little better than when I bought my truck. I don't remember 0% being offered at the time (I got 1.9% and I thought that was pretty good).

Also, how much lower is invoice pricing that MSRP? From what I've seen it seems to be around $2,000 lower but that is a ballpark average.

I was thinking back to when I bought the truck and got to thinking if I got a good deal or not and if what I paid for my truck was around the average price for a truck like mine at the time. I can afford the monthly payments and will hopefully pay off the truck in a month or so but it's one of those things that makes you wonder when you see people getting trucks for low to mid $30K range. If I did get screwed on the pricing, it's one of those things that you tell yourself "you live and you learn."

For me, the prices are higher now than they were when I bought my 07 ($42,700) I basically ordered the same truck which stickered for $47,900. Thats near $5000 more now than it was then and with a few less options. The interest rates are better now though than I had then. :) Kind of a trade off (almost). In the end, I got about the same amount of rebates knocked off the sticker price.
