Anyone Taking Advantage Of Gm's 'truck Month'?

(first post btw .. hello GM truck people)

Trying to get myself out of my 12 yr old Jeep and into a new Sierra, although GM is not making it easy. This being "Truck Month, come in for 0 percent financing deals, blah blah."

The fine print, which you can only get direct from the dealer, is that 0 percent is for 36 months. So you're actually better off taking the 2500 cash and financing it at 4.9% for 60 months.

I get it, nothing's free. I just dont like the way they pull the ol bait and switch. That's kind of a douche thing to do. Particularly since true 60month 0% isn't unheard of (Toyota's done it.. sh!t i said the T word, i'm sorry god)

Anyway, enough of me bitching. Has anyone out here actually taken advantage of these December deals through GM?

I still want the truck.. just need to decide if this is the right time or if I can safely wait till January and not miss the opportunity.

ps. If I can make this thing happen with GM, the Cherokee will be shedding some sheet metal so I can fit 35s, plus new gears/lockers and a trailer so I can drag it places.

My bet is that the incentives from GM will get better with time. Ford's new 2011 engine lineup will pull some extra traffic into their showrooms and if gas continues to go up all manufacturers will have to sweeten the pot to move metal. At least this what I'm hoping will happen as I'll be in the market come spring. Of course I have been known to be wrong.

Yes nothing is free. Most times taking the cash works out better than the financing options unless you get the most expensive truck possible. That fine print is to be expected, the fine print I hate is the commercials that say you can get a car for like 149 a month until you realize that is eighth employee pricing and like a 5000 down payment lol. They should standardize these things because I could advertise $1 a month payments on a truck for 36 months just give like a 35000 down payment lol

You basically need to wait, like others have said, the incentives will get better over time.

2500 is not enough in this day and age. 4000 rebates is when to start getting itchy imo, even with the decreased inventory

For what it's worth I got my 2010 in february, the stick price was 49000 plus 13% tax and by the time incentives were taken off and negotiations done it was 36000 tax in. This is in Canada but basically the cash incentive was 10,000 off from gm, plus I had 3000 for a cash for clunkers trade that gm offers for vehicles older than 2003. The rest came off from the dealers end. That was a 4x4 crew cab LT with z71, 5.3L and almost every option you can get on an LT

I just did a similar deal (This December). The sticker price on my truck (2011 GMC Sierra SL) was $39,000+tax and I ended up paying about $24,000+ tax (including cash for clunkers). Of course when I posted it here everyone jumped all over me and claimed it wasn't/couldn't be true.

Still amazing deals on right now. I'm also in Canada for the record.

I'm looking at buying also. Decided to factory order. Expected the dealers to hard sell me on the incentives that are available right now. Instead, I find all of them are telling me "well, I just don't see the incentives going any worse than they are right now". So, I'm going to hold off until Jan and see what it looks like.

They're telling me that they'll lock me in with the current incentives, and if they get better, they'll give me the better one, so really you can't lose. Since I placed my order the rebate went from $6500 to $7500, so I'm pretty happy.

Unheard of, hell, GM did/does it too. My truck is 60mos SAC (2007 Model) finaced thru GMAC, now Ally. Wife's 2008 Enclave is a SAC finance as well.

Always gotta work the numbers tho. My dealer called me and is pushing me to trade up. 36 mos SAC OR $2500 and 2.9% for 60mos.

Have equity in the current sled. Could actually get my payments LOWER per month, but the clock on the loan resets. On top of everything else, I just REALLY like MINE. Have an Iron block non-flex fuel engine, heated washer fluid, tinted the windows, put on an exhaust, CAI and a tune. The tune, sure, could do that easy enough on the new one, but then I will be dropping $$$s again to get the CAI, exhaust tint, etc.. I dunno, hard decision. I will probably wait it out.

I have NO INCENTIVE or DESIRE to trade my Sierra. Told the dealer he screwed up and sold me a car I really LIKE...

Going to wait till next month, no reason to rush it. As you said, the deals are only going to get better.

Found out more today - Ally is offering true 60month @ 0%, although you cant get any additional rebates/incentives.

The other option now is to take $4505 cash and finance the rest at 4.9%, so you basically pay it back to them in interest.

So I take it back. I think part of the frustration was the way the dealer presented it. I had to go to another dealership to get the full picture. In the process found an awesome salesman down in Mystic, I'll be going back to him for sure.

Meanwhile, I'll be trolling around here, learning about the truck. Time to go hit the Abbreviations sticky, Jeep lingo is different.

I also have a towing package and bluetooth "addon". Which was worth like $1000. Once I'm home I will gladly scan my window sticker with all the options and price.

Actually I do not even have to do it. Here is the website with a link to a similarily priced truck.
