How Long Should Parking Break Shoe Last?

How long should the parking break shoe last? I've heard that the shoe should never wear unless you use the parking brake to stop, and I have also been told that it will wear right along with the rear brakes under normal driving? Should it be replaced when the rear brakes are replaced?

Look at the linings when you do the brakes. If they are low or worn replace them. If you don't use them much they might last a long time.

Didn't the '01's have the problem with debris getting up in there and wearing them out in about 10-20k miles?

 

I wouldn't replace them while you're in there if they still work. If memory serves, they're like $80 for the cheap ones.
