04 Silverado Ac "mode" Door Problems...

Last summer, my 04 Silverado decided to put most of the HVAC air out the front vents and dropped the floor and defrost output options. I have taken some of the dash apart, found the mode door actuator and it is in fact moving back and forth full swings. Yet I can't hear the door moving around. Its gear is turning, but that's it. I need to assume that there's something in there (Maybe 10 pounds of pine needles) that shouldn't be which caused the door to get stuck and/or broken. What do I need to do to get to this box and get it opened up to see the door??? I've searched around, seems this is a bit more uncommon HVAC issue...

 

Hate to rip apart half the dash blindly when its 20 degrees out and get stuck. And I coould really use my defrosters ;-)
