2007 Sierra Using Oil And Gas Mileage Terrible

I have a 2007 Sierra 5.3 liter, it uses at least a liter of oil between changes, it only has 47000 kms on it. Also the fuel milage now is terrible compared to when it was new. Used to get about 750 kms per tank now lucky to get 650 anyone else having this problem .

I am getting very disappointed with this vehicle. I bought it brand new, never bought a new one before but starting to regret it.

the oil consumption is a good sign that the afm lifters need to be changed out...and as far as mileage, do you have the 4 speed or 6 speed trans?

How do the lifters affect oil consumption?

the active fuel managment has nifty lifters that cause excessive oil consumption on SOME trucks

Having the same problem...warranty is up in 4000 miles so I'm a little concerned. Dealership is charging me $200 bucks to start an oil consumption test but they confirmed that if they don't find the problem by the time my warranty is up, tough luck. If I get a blackbear tune to get rid of the AFM altogether will this fix the problem as well?

Tuning only takes care of the electronic portion of the problem. You need to install something like Thunder Racing's D.O.D. delete kit to take care of the mechanical glitches/weaknesses.

Why is your dealer charging you anything if your truck is still under waranty? I wouldn't pay them a dime! My truck is doing the same thing, I have to schedule an appointment to get mine looked at. Good luck hope you get yours fixed!!
