Intermittent Noise

I have a noise that has just recently (within a week) started to occur. It happens intermittently, no pattern, and sometimes will be several trips before it happens. The only way I can describe the sound is to say that it resembles the sound of tapping a pocket full of change with a pen consistently. Driving me nuts! When it happens, you can hear it very well, but because it is so intermittent, I can't be certain t would do it when I can take it to the dealer. Any ideas or similar issue before with anyone?

Have you recently been in the glove box?

There is a known issue with the windshield side trim tapping and making noise. There is a thread there about using 3M 2 sided tape to tape it down...This all started when guys started putting bug deflectors on, but it also happens to some without deflectors also. Here's the link to a fix you can do yourself. This might fix your issue also..Hope it helps...

Well, I tried everything suggested so far...no go. Noise is still there. There is a new development, though. For the hell of it, the next time the noise appeared, I decided to turn my heat/air control all the way up so that the blower was at it's highest for about 5 seconds, then turned it all the way back down, and it stopped the noise! Now, every time, the noise reappears, I turn the blower up and it immediately goes away, until it comes back!

So, I am going to assume the noise is coming from something to do with the controls etc?
