Front Axle 4x4 Problem

I need to make an inquiry for some expertise.

My Truck is a 2005 Chevy 1500 Crew Z-71. 98K miles, 5.3v8

 

I put it in 4 this past week and to my surprise heard this awful rattling/grinding sound from the front wheels/axle. I could tell the it engaged, but did not drive it as I knew something wasn't right. It'a not the bearings -Any ideas?

 

I do hear the sound when driving in 2x, however it is more of a rattle and not loud at all - I was thinking it may be something with the transfer case chain??? Any ideas on problem, repair required and cost.<br /><br />THanks much!

sry ,internet is not going to help you ,could be anything

 

take it to a dealer ,they know your truck VERY well,

 

hard to diagnose noises without hearing them,hope you understand
