4wd Problem 2500hd

Trucks a 2001 2500hd ecsb. Push buttton 4wd. Problem im having is it wont come out of 4wd untill i come to a complete stop. The light on the push button says its in 2wd but really its still in 4 untill i stop movement. Transfercase has new fluid start of the season, front pumpkin also is full with new gear oil.

It's driving me nuts..especially after 5 hours plowing.

Try lifting off the throttle abruptly to unload the driveline.

mine i just have to lift off the throttle and it comes out of 4wd

I tried that and it still didn't shift until I eventually coasted to a stop.

That's how the 2500 transfer cases are, they aren't auto-trac or shift on the go like the 1500 ones. Thus, no auto function. I've never even pushed my 4wd button, but I'll have to when I get the chance and see if mine will shift on the go. I think it will, but I've never thought about it.
