What The Hell Is Going On With My Emblem?

Figured they would replace it. If it had all turned black I would keep it..

Stupid question. Will they replace it out of warranty, or is it a matter of Chevy pride?

I just had mine replaced the other day for the same thing, actually it looked worse to me, and mine is only 6 months old. When talking to the service rep. he said he has seen a lot of them do that.

Water gets behind the emblem and causes the REALLY thin coating of brass or copper to either flake off or oxidize. It happened to my truck when it was about 8 y/o, so I took that as a reason to paint it. And it's had many different paint jobs on it since then.

I took my rear one off look 1,000,000,000 better. Put a billet chrome one on front look a ton better to.

mine was off my tailgate the second day i had it... i couldnt stand it but to each their own. maybe ask the dealer if he would split the cost for a billet set

I to took mine off the night I bought it. It looks much cleaner with out it just my 2 cent lol.

My dad's 06 Colorado did the exact same thing, so it isn't just the Silverado that does it. I replaced his with billet. So with all that when I had the radiator cover off my new truck I noticed the bowtie on it. Question: How does the bowtie release from the grill on the Silverado? The Colorado had two plastic shafts with a metal clip. Obviously this truck is different. How does it come off?

mine did the same thing, dealer replaced and proceeded to scratch the paint, because the tech didn't use fishing line, he used a screw driver!!!! I wish i would've done it myself, it's just double sided tape.

I have had my truck for two months (2011 silverado) and my rear bow tie is much worse than yours chris, I am just waiting til I need an oil change to take it to the dealer no sense making a trip for that. I am also going to complain about what looks like a little surface rust around one of the rear back up sensors. I know that they will fix it but it just makes me mad that after two months these little things are happening. Whats going to happen after 5 yr? I love GM trucks but sometime i just dont know.
