Fuel Pump?

I have recently noticed a whine, humming noise from behind the cab and infront of the box. It is noticable..dealer said not a problem. Is this a sign the pump is going?

Warranty is over soon. Is there a test that the dealer can do? I have read it is a pain to change and do not want to pay for a pump in 3 months from now.

thanks for any advice or ideas?

pump may be going bad. if the noise was never heard before then the dealer should explain what it is if he knows it is not a problem, what is it?? I would document the dealers refusal to check it out and contact GM.

How old is the truck? I have a 99 and the pump lasted about 6 years for me....Changed mine myself, its not too bad as long as your tank is low on gas....If your that worried just go ahead and have it done..But if you've gotta do it yourself i dont think it was too difficult....

I had that same noise, from the same location (between the box and cab) on my '96 K1500. I was also told it was the fuel pump "about to go" so, being somewhat mechanically inclined, I bought a new one, and it sat on the shelf as I procrastinated...... annnnnd two years later when I sold the truck, I STILL hadn't gotten around to replacing it, and it STILL made that high-pitched buzzing sound.. so I threw the pump in for the new owner. LOL

so, I dunno..
