Not real suprised.  New engine, new tranny.  Ford is having to prove itself just as Chevy did when the Dmax was released.  I'd be willing to bet that there will be improvements made to the Dmax for '04 model.

Didn't expect Ford to introduce a new motor/tranny combo and have the GM still come out on top did ya?  It all goes in cycles, Ford just happens to be on top for 03 like GM was for the last several years.

 

I throughly expect the little Navistar and the Dmax to be some pretty good competition for each other over the next several years.  The Navistar already makes a bunch more torque in medium duty applications (620ft-lbs@1400rpm) and the Dmax is rumored to be at 340Hp for the 04 models.  Got to love competition.   :thumb:
