Thermostat Replacement

How much coolent can I expent to lose when I pull out my thremostat? And more importantly do you think the thremostat would be causing my lukewarm heater air? Thanks, oh its an 2000 sierra 2500 6.0

Is coolant level up to the cold mark on the tank when cold? Does the Gauge reed cold? Should be 200F. Has coolant been changed & flushed recently? Has Dex cool had any other coolant mixed with it? If so you will need a thorough flush and flush the heater core.

Running Temp is right about 200, (just short of the 215 mark) I have only had the truck for about a month now so I don't know when the last time the coolant was changed, and don't know if the Dex cool has been mix, still looks orange...So maybe I should start there, flushing the whole system?

Yes do a flush and remove the heater hoses and back flush then use concentrated Dex cool and dis trilled water.
