Ac-delco Parts Question

This question is really for MS3DALE, but if anybody can answer I'd be grateful. I purchased an AC-Delco water pump for my 5.3 from Amazon.com for $99.58. AC-Delco part #252-845, GM Part #19195104. When the box came today I was like a kid a Christmas. I know, it's weird to get excited about a water pump. However, I came back down to Earth very quickly when I saw "Made In China" stamped on the box.

 

If I return it and buy a GM waterpump from a dealer, will it be AC-Delco? Are the OEM GM water pumps made in China?

 

If I decide to keep this water pump, can I trust it not to fail prematurely?

I should have a GM one in stock,I'll have to take a look at it and see what it says,most GM water pumps are made by AC-Delco,but not all.

What year is your truck?

I would not be surprised if AC Delco made water pumps in China. They make quite a few parts in Mexico and China.

 

I know this sucks. But it is not just GM. Recently I found out that Suzuki OEM motorcycle oil filters are now all made in China. Nissan moved the production of their oil filters to China a long time ago. And the price actually went up!

My wife drives a Nissan Quest. I went to the dealer to get Nissan oil filters for it. I bought 4 of them, and noticed the Made In China label on them. I was more than a little upset about it. Once I use them all I'll be switching to Wix.

 

Politically I'm a little more comfortable with the Mexican stuff. China manipulates their currency to artificially low rates and engages in other anti-comptetive behavior. Not to mention the state sponsored theft of US technology and other intellectual property.

I looked up a new GM one,I do have one in stock,It is made by AC-Delco,and it was made in Canada.

It is GM part#19256261 & AC-Delco part#251-743

Here is where it gets a little strange,the part numbers you provided (both GM & AC-Delco) are no good in my GM parts catalog at all,But....they are good part numbers in the GM pricing system,and in my AC-Delco distributors catalog.
