Water Pump Replacement

Good morning guys, just a quick question this morning. After searching the forum I couldn't find the answer so I thought I would ask. I have an 01 GMC 1500HD with the 6L. I need to replace the water pump because it is leaking around the gasket. Instead of just replacing the gasket at 97,000 miles I was told to replace the pump and the thermostat right away also. So the question is, how hard is it to replace the pump? Is there any step by step directions anywhere I can get my hands on? I have never changed one before and would like to try it. Thanks.

Pretty easy job. Remove the fan shroud, fan, belt, and there are 6 bolts that hold the pump on if I remember right.
